Our solution required both storage and infrastructure expertise, integrating hundreds of heterogeneous servers and operating systems with the SAN. We completed the program with no downtime, significantly increased performance, and dramatically reduced query access times and the data center footprint.

Live transaction data prevented shutting down the legacy system to cut over a new solution. And because multiple vendors, tape devices, disks, and platforms had to play together seamlessly, the solution was a heterogeneous technology challenge.

We developed custom software with multiple tiers of near-line storage, a second storage array, and a new SAN that employed snapshot technology. Then we ran live recovery tests on-site, ensuring restore windows were met and data was fully intact.

To make storage easier to manage, we increased levels of automation, freeing resources to work elsewhere. We completed implementation on schedule, before the busy retail season and we included built-in scalability to address storage needs that were doubling annually.
