Meeting a Key Customer Need with Business Intelligence
Burlington, Massachusetts - Friday, June 9, 2006
For more than 10 years, Corporate Technologies focused on delivering enterprise computing solutions for its customers based on systems, storage and database technologies. In 2003, their customers began to ask them to also help with a related critical need: “Once we had gained the confidence of our customers in establishing a rock solid data management platform, we started asking them how they were using the information,” says Harry Kasparian, President and CEO of Corporate Technologies, Inc.
“We realized that to our customers, it was all about using the information to make better business decisions – this often being the driving force behind why they were buying infrastructure technology from us in the first place. That brought us into new and interesting kinds of discussions with different people in the customer organization, frequently the business drivers. And we increased our value to our customers by becoming a trusted advisor to another part of their organization,” says Kasparian.
Corporate Technologies achieved Business Objects Gold VAR partner status in only one year and experienced 100 percent year over year growth. Today, 50 percent of its engineering staff, including highly qualified certified Business Intelligence (BI) consultants, works in its BI practice. Corporate Technologies offers its customers comprehensive data integration, Data Warehousing, Reporting and Analytic solutions based on the Business Objects product suite.
Bridging the Gap Between Data and BI: Enterprise Information Management
Corporate Technologies approached the data and information management challenge with its customers in a visionary manner. They realized before customers could achieve the true benefits of BI, the underlying data had to, first, be current, trustworthy and integrated. This approach is what Business Objects today calls Enterprise Information Management (EIM). Corporate Technologies began utilizing Business Objects solutions to quickly and flexibly integrate and manage information to provide the most trusted foundation for reporting and analytics.
“It’s not just about creating the reports for our customers,” says Kasparian. “Moreover, it’s about how everything works together – it’s about getting the infrastructure underpinnings correct, figuring out where the data is coming from, knowing how good the data is, making it available, and keeping it secure. Our customers see the value in this because they understand that if the data isn't’t trustworthy, incorrect inferences and consequently bad decisions may be made.”
Selecting the Right Business Intelligence Partner
“We sought out a partnership that offered the best technology and partner program that best aligned with our to go-to-market strategy. We initiated a comprehensive evaluation of different BI vendors in the market – we looked at vendor technologies, their target markets, and partner programs – and we selected Business Objects. The alignment was right, we felt that both companies wanted to share in the investment required to build something significant,” says Kasparian.
Business Objects was also keen to partner with an organization that was committed to delivering customers top-notch solutions: with its powerful R&D process and their systems integration and interoperability labs – used for benchmarking and proof of concepts – Corporate Technologies keeps its competency level high and ensures that its customers receive the highest quality project results.
Benefiting from a Business Objects Partnership
“After looking at all of the competitive products in the market, we knew Business Objects had industry-leading products. And becoming a Business Objects partner allowed us to brand ourselves and put some identity behind what we were doing – it gave us instant credibility and people understood immediately what business we’re in,” says Kasparian.
