Corporate Technologies' 52-Page Data Storage Outlook: 2004 Summary Report Now Available
Burlington, Massachusetts - Tues, March 1, 2005
Corporate Technologies has announced completion of a comprehensive research study, Data Storage Outlook:2004 it undertook to aid IT executives in assessing and meeting current and future IT storage needs.
"We have become increasingly aware," said Jesse St. Laurent, the company's R&D Director, "that corporate IT executives are facing several data storage challenges, including regulatory compliance, increasing volumes of data, shrinking backup windows, lack of reporting and monitoring tools, vague corporate data retention policies, and support of email environments."
"While most senior IT decision-makers plan to maintain or grow their data storage spending over the next 12 months, even if their overall IT spending is flat," says St. Laurent, "there is an information gap when it comes to the features and benefits of many types of storage solutions."
Data Storage Outlook™, a division of technology service provider Corporate Technologies, conducted 49 in-depth, face-to-face interviews with senior IT decision-makers, such as Chief Information Officers and Vice Presidents of IT, and published these findings in a 52-page research report. The executives interviewed spanned various vertical markets including financial services, life sciences and manufacturing.
During these meetings the interviewees addressed a broad range of storage-related questions designed to gauge their current and projected storage requirements and to identify their storage challenges. Here are some other findings the Data Storage Outlook™ study reveals:
* The majority of the respondents do not have the IT infrastructure
to support their stated data loss requirements for critical business applications
(e.g., email and ERP).
* Most IT decision-makers cannot estimate the actual dollar figure associated
with their IT downtime.
* Disaster recovery, backups and Windows server consolidation are cited as
urgent problems not being addressed by their current storage solutions.
* Although most companies state they have a formal corporate disaster recovery
(DR) plan, most say they do not have a formal "IT" DR or business
continuity (BC) plan.
Data Storage Outlook™ was developed by Corporate Technologies in order to ensure that its storage-related products and services meet the needs of its clients and the marketplace, and to provide senior IT decision-makers with timely peer data.
